Skokie Public Library has been named a 2008 winner of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service! This is the nation's highest honor for libraries and museums, awarded for helping to make their communities better places to live. The federal Institute of Museum and Library Services awards the medal to five libraries and five museums each year. Skokie Public Library is the first public library in Illinois to receive this award.
Three Library representatives will receive the medal on October 7 from First Lady Laura Bush: Carolyn Anthony, Library Director; John Graham, Library Board Vice President; and Aleksandr Krapivkin, community representative.
