Summer Reading Club: Read on the Wild Side!
June 1 through July 31, 2009
The Youth Services Department is proud to present our 2009 summer reading club, Read on the Wild Side!, a fun way for kids keep their reading skills sharp during summer vacation.Wild Reading runs from June 1 through July 31 and offers clubs for children from birth through 8th grade.
Read-with-Me Members (babies through grade 2)
- Your first visit is a sign-up. The four visits after that count for participation in the program.
After reading or listening to ten books at home, color the animals on
your book log.- Bring your book log to the Library to officially record your visit and and go on an animal safari.
- After four reporting visits and a total of 40 books read, you will receive rewards and a chance to win a gift basket.
Independent Readers (grades 2 through 6)
- Your first visit is a sign-up. The four visits after that count for participation in the program.
- Enjoy a fun activity to find out which nonfiction subject you will read about for your first book. Check out this book and two more of your choice from Skokie Public Library.
- Read the books at home and then fill out your book log.
- Bring your book log to the Library to officially record your visit.
- After four reporting visits and a total of 12 books read, you will receive rewards and a chance to win a gift basket.
Contract Club Members (grades 6 through 8)
- Sign a contract to read at least 1,000 pages by Friday, July 31, 2009.
- Record each book and the number of pages read in your book log.
- After you've fulfilled your contract by reading 1,000 pages, you'll receive a reward and a chance to win a gift basket.
