Each spring, Skokie Public Library co-sponsors a Teen Job Fair with the Skokie Park District. Teens can meet with potential employers, pick up job applications, get job-hunting tips, and find out about volunteer opportunities.

In addition to online resources, the Teen Corner has helpful books for teens who want to earn money.  You might want to start with How to Get a Job if You’re a Teenager or The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cool Jobs for Teens.

Volunteer Opportunities

Skokie Public Library volunteer opportunities

These opportunities are part-time and may be regularly scheduled, or may occur on an as-needed basis for special projects. Anyone over the age of fourteen may apply to be a volunteer. Volunteer opportunities may include reading to the blind, helping patrons use computers, clerical responsibilities, assisting children with crafts, helping librarians plan programming for teens or other patrons, or cleaning library videos.

Applications for volunteer positions are available Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm in the Administration Office on the third floor of the Library. Completed applications are kept on file for one year and are often the primary source for filling openings.
