Stand Against Racism

Help raise awareness of the effects of racism on all of us. Although standing together for 15 minutes along Oakton Street doesn’t eliminate racism, it does allow us to see the broad range of people in our community who are committed to that goal. We need each other’s support to transform ourselves and our community. This year, we’ve enlisted our maintenance staff to help with sign-making workshops in preparation for the stand on Friday. Bring your creativity, make a sign, and join us Friday morning, April 27 at 10:30 am to take our stand.

Show the world that Skokie is helping to end racism. Let's line Oakton Street and show that we can no longer ignore or tolerate racism.

Make a sign if you'd like, and be heard. Afterward, discuss the negative impacts of institutional and structural racism in our communities. This is part of the national Stand Against Racism, a movement of the YWCA. The Civic Lab will also appear at this time asking the question: what does it mean to stand against racism?
