Hamnet

This lush, emotional historical drama—winner of the Golden Globe for Best Drama—is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Maggie O'Farrell, who cowrote the screenplay with Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao. Set in 16th-century Tudor England, the film follows Agnes, a gifted healer, and her husband Will, whose marriage is pushed to the breaking point by the sudden death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet, from the plague. Agnes grapples with a raw grief that threatens to consume her, while Will ultimately pours his profound sorrow into the creation of his immortal masterpiece, Hamlet.

Starring Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn. Directed by Chloé Zhao. Hamnet received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Director, Actress (Buckley), and Adapted Screenplay.
