20,000 Species of Bees
For her feature film debut, filmed in beautiful Basque country, Spanish writer/director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren created a sensitive coming-of-age story. It follows an eight-year-old’s journey of self-discovery and exploration of gender identity and femininity. Starring Patricia López Arnaiz, Ane Gabarain, Itziar Lazkano, and Sofía Otero (who won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, making her the youngest actor to win the award).
