Program Description

Event Details

All countries tweak their national stories to make the past easier to explain. But the reality is often far more interesting than the myth. Historian Joyce Haworth will explore a collection of these stories, from the light-hearted (was Molly Pitcher a real person?) to the serious (did Lincoln hold enslaved labor?). She will also provide some help in learning how to detect the fictions within the truth.
