Enjoy a performance paying homage to originators of Latin Jazz such as Cal Tjader and Mongo Santamaria, as well as original music in the same style.
Raíces features Joe Sonnefeldt on vibes, Bobby Delgado on timbales, Jorge Leal on congas, Joe Rendon on bongos and percussion. Stuart Seale on piano, and Eric Ferrer on bass.
Raíces was founded by Chicago percussionist Rubén Alvarez and is currently led by vibraphonist Joe Sonnefeldt. Their debut album features eight original compositions in Cha-Cha-Cha, Afro 6/8, Mambo, Bolero, Songo, and more styles.
This concert is being underwritten by a generous grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund of The American Federation of Musicians.
Free tickets will be given out to those present starting at 2:30 pm.
