Event Details
Showcasing talented young performers of classical music: Vera Goryunov, piano, and Sasha Varchenko, violin.
Vera is in eighth grade at Daniel Wright Junior High School, Lincolnshire. She studies piano with Soo Young Lee and has received numerous gold and silver medals in annual sonata-sonatina festivals. She performs regularly on the Merion Concert Series in Evanston and the Plymouth Place Series in La Grange Park and has competed and medaled in Science Olympiad in four disciplines and at state and national competitions.
Sasha is a senior at Indiana University Online High School and studies violin with Dimitri Berlinsky. A student at the Music Institute of Chicago Academy, Sasha performed the Khachaturian Violin Concerto with orchestra as a semifinalist in the 2024 International Young Artist Concerto Competition. As a member of the Porphyrion Quartet, she received the bronze medal at the 2025 Saint Paul String Quartet Competition and the grand award at the 2024 A.N. and Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition.
